Academics & researchers

The benefits

The MISG is an exciting and dynamic forum where academics and researchers can apply their expert knowledge in the mathematical, physical and engineering sciences to help solve real world, industrially-relevant problems.

The workshop provides a structured opportunity to make contact and forge partnerships with Australian and New Zealand industries interested in utilising your skills. It is also an opportunity to collaborate with other mathematicians, scientists and engineers to produce outcomes of immediate industrial relevancy.

How much does it cost?

It’s free for workshop participants. We provide morning and afternoon tea, and a workshop dinner.

Social events

The MISG includes a social dinner. This event provides an opportunity for you to network with  industry representatives and colleagues in an enjoyable and casual setting.

How can I become involved?

There are several ways to become involved with MISG:

  • Most importantly, you can register and attend the MISG! Everyone brings different skills to this event and no matter what your level of experience with industrial problems is, your skills and presence will be valued.
  • If you have an industry contact who you think would be interested in the MISG, then please contact the MISG Director.
  • You can express your interest to become and Academic Moderator for one of the industry problems.
  • You can encourage your postgraduate students to attend the MISG Workshop. They will greatly benefit from work-shopping with peers in the Australian and New Zealand Applied Mathematics communities alongside experienced Applied and Industrial Mathematicians and Researchers, and being exposed to a wide variety of industrially-relevant problems. These activities present great opportunities for our graduate students to see mathematics and physical science in action.

Registration

Please register your attendance at the MISG Workshop. Attendance is free, but registration is necessary for catering.
